Character PerspectivesFather/Daughter: From Ariel's perspective, we see life as a overprotected daughter. She is very curious and disobeys her fathers wishes while also daydreaming a lot. From King Triton's perspective we see life being overprotective of his daughter. He is worried about losing his daughter.

Audience PerpectivesGirl/Boy:I do think this movie is more geared toward a girl because the main character is a girl who ends up a princess. Although both genders may enjoy it because of the humor and fun it brings.
Child/Adult:When you're a kid, there is just something magical about watching these fairytales. I mean, who wouldn't want to live happily ever after and get the prince. But as you grow up, you get more realistic and some people stop believing in happily ever after. In movies like this things just happen and you end up with a happily ever after but in real life you have to work to get what you want. I was researching and I came across an article about this woman and she said she loved Ariel when she was little but when she grew up she watched it again. It broke her heart when she realized it was about a girl giving up her life to be with a guy. Movies like these entertain kids but also embed these messages unconsciously and it is not until later until you realize it.
